Monaco
You'll delight in this excursion to worldly

Excursion Nice
Highlights
The sprawling city of Nice, colonized
by the Greeks 2,000 years ago, enjoys a fantastic setting on the
hill-framed curve of the Baie de Anges. Posh hotels and promenades
attract scores of visitors each year. Start with a drive along a scenic
seaside road to Nice. Once there, you'll travel along the Promenade de
Anglais, a splendid palm-fringed boulevard stretching three miles beside
the Baie de Anges. You will see the Russian Orthodox Church, built by
Tsar Nicholas II and considered the most beautiful religious edifice of
the Orthodoxy outside Russia. Its pink bricks, light gray marble and six
onion domes add an exotic touch to Nice's skyline. Next, you'll arrive
in Vieille
Shore Excursion to St. Paul de Vence St. Paul de Vence was built by Francois I in the 16th century. Alternatively, it has been a town of noblemen, peasants, art and artists. Your excursion begins with a drive into the foothills toward this fortified village. Situated amid colorful terraced vineyards, bougainvillea and mimosa blossoms, this assemblage of stone houses and narrow walkways is considered by many to be the Cote d' Azur's most picturesque village. After you arrive, you'll enjoy a walking tour along this historic old medieval walled town. You can explore the wonderful shops, art galleries and boutiques. Afterwards, you'll have some time to shop on your own and relax with a cool drink or snack in a nice café. You may wish to visit the Maeght Foundation, one of the most modern art museums in all of Europe, housing the finest collection of contemporary art on the Riviera in an impressive avant garde building. Works by Chagall, Braque, Miró, Kandinski, Leger and Matisse are on view, along with many other examples of 20th century paintings and sculptures. Note: The tour of St. Paul de Vence is on foot over cobblestone streets. There is a 1/2 mile walk from where coaches stop to the town of St. Paul de Vence. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. |
